#Trust30: Travel

“If we truly live, we shall see truly.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson

Prompt: Not everyone wants to travel the world, but most people can identify at least one place in the world they’d like to visit before they die. Where is that place for you, and what will you do to make sure you get there?

My answer: Since I do want to travel the world, narrowing on one specific place isn’t easy. But one place I do talk a lot about visiting is London. The first things that  come to mind when I hear “London” are: the English accent, royalty, coffee, tea, pastries, world-class arts, writing, books, parks, business, and the color red. All things that I love or am fascinated by. Whenever I say “London” a sense of happiness, confidence and determination overwhelms me. I guess it’s because I have this belief that opportunities for exposure, growth, and success in the areas I’m most passionate about abound there. Oftentimes when I’m feeling discouraged or simply fed up with life here I dream of going to London. Everything’s just better there, in my opinion.

I guess the simplest way I can make sure to visit my dream city of is to start saving money. I saw cute and big piggy banks for sale at Target yesterday. Maybe I’ll go back and get one and write on it in bold letters with a permanent marker “LONDON FUND”.

  1. Step #1: Do you have a passport? If not, start there. You’ll get an unexplainable sense of freedom and adventure when it arrives. London was big for my wife and we finally got to go there in March. At the time, it was less expensive to fly to London than many parts of the US. However, once you get there, the exchange rate was painful. Luckily, siteseeing is inexpensive and taking photos is free!

  2. Yes, I do have a passport! I’ve done quite a bit of traveling outside the U.S. and my mother lives outside the country too, so a passport for me is a must!

I did hear about the exchange rate. Not cool, but I’ll put up with it! :) What were your favorite spots in London?

  3. I need to go to London. It’s not high on my list, but it’s definitely on my list.
