Me: The Basics

I guess this page will serve as my “About Me” page.  I decided to use pictures to illustrate my likes and dislikes, what I have done or experienced in life, instead of just writing everything out. Each picture is captioned so you know what it means, although some are pretty self-explanatory. This page will be updated periodically as I come across more pictures that capture the basics of me.

I think my faith is a good place to start. I've been a Christian believer all my life, though I haven't always lived out my beliefs. All I know is that if it were for Jesus I don't know where I'd be now. He's been so good to me and it's my greatest wish is to be faithful to Him. He deserves that.

There is nothing like a good book. I get my love for reading thanks to my mother. When I was younger she would read to me and I had my own little library in my room. Don't be surprised if I choose to read a book over watching a movie. Reading is good entertainment for me.

I can't emphasize enough how much I LOVE to travel. I love visiting a new place, learning about its history, trying new food, making new friends, seeing new art, and more. If only I could get paid just to travel.

Duh. Of course I like to write. I wouldn't have a blog if I didn't like to write. Not to mention, I wouldn't have been a newspaper journalist if writing wasn't something I enjoyed.

I don't even want to imagine what life would be life if there wasn't ice cream. Whoever came up with the recipe for ice cream back in the early days, I LOVE YOU!

I'm good at baking. And humble about it too. Hehe. It all started with the Easy Bake Oven. ^^ Then mom was brave enough to let me use her equipment and ingredients. And since we were vegans for a good part of my growing up years, there was a lot of experimenting going on so that I could eat cookies, cakes, and pies again! Thanks mom!

Music has always been a part of my life. I regret not being more determined about mastering my piano and guitar playing, although I'm a lot better at guitar than I am piano. I love to sing, but mostly by myself since I can get shy when I sing in front of others. I long to fill my sons life with music, too.

Google is a life saver. I Google EVERYTHING.

The first time I had a taste of the heavenly IHOP pancakes was in 2008 in California. Then it was reintroduced into my life March 2010. IHOP, I'm so glad you came into my life.

Isn't this fruit salad inviting? I just want to attack it and take in all its juicy yummyness. I could have fruit salad every single day. So delicious and good for me too.

I was born to live in the tropics on beach front property. But I can't have either. At least not now.

  1. This has my vote as the best-done “about me” page I’ve seen yet. And liked your “bucket list” too; have actually done a few of those things, like living in Seattle and San Diego, working at NASA in Florida for a couple years, and visiting their centers in Alabama, Mississippi, and Sunnyvale, CA, plus Cal Tech (but not Houston).

Visited your site after reading the lively little debate you and Heather Joy Vires had on the effects of legalism on church kids. Am trying to encourage my daughter Yvette to comment on either Heather’s or your site about that; she has some definite opinions, having actually known someone who left church for exactly the reasons you gave. She doesn’t comment often, but when she does, she does it well.

Feel free to visit our family web site if you like. We don’t have a blog, but as of now we do have the current draft of my book on “Loving our Neighbors”(called “Activating the Forgotten Commandment”). When we find a publisher we expect we’ll have to take that down. Plus there are over 140 free desktop wallpapers. (My daughter designed the whole site and took nearly all of the desktop pictures.)

    • Thank you, Pete! And it seems like you’ve done quite a bit of traveling yourself! That’s awesome!

I took a look at your family website. Beautiful photos your daughter took! I hope everything goes well for you as you work on publishing your book!
